Whoa. Totally didn't see that coming ... Access Hollywood is breaking the news that Nicole Richie and her fiance Adam Goldstein "have mutually decided to call off their engagement" according to Nicole's spokesperson.
Richie, 24, and DJ AM, 32, got in engaged in February and seemed to be the real deal, a couple genuinely in love rather than getting together for publicity. Her good friend Lindsay Lohan told Access, "They're both great people, so I'm sure everything happens for a reason. The best will come."
The fourth season of Nicole and Paris Hilton's show, "The Simple Life," was supposed to revolve around the wedding plans of the two socialites but Paris dumped her Greek fiancé in October, and now Nicole's planned summer wedding complete with elephant rides is also kaput. I guess it's time for the producers to give up on ever getting "The Simple Life" back on the air...
