Josh Hartnett has launched an attack on today’s young female stars like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, branding them as bad role models.
The "Black Hawk Down" and "Pearl Harbor" actor says they’re self-obsessed and shallow, and are inspiring teenage girls to be the same.
"What scares me with pop culture is that people are starting to think that's the way they should be," he says, voicing his concerns.
"Looking at my younger brother and sister and their friends, seeing my little sister's friends looking, like, to Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton - I just don't think that's anything to strive for."
"I don't think those girls are too happy. And it's like, the culture is so focused on a more self-oriented, kind of luck-based mentality. It's just like get what's good for you.”
Josh isn’t the only one attacking modern teen stars, Julia Stiles recently spoke out about what she calls the “Lolita phenomenon”. She says today’s young female celebrities rely on their sexuality to be successful and get famous.
"I grew up with Madonna and other female icons who were sexual, but they owned it, they were in control and they had the brains to back it up,” the “Save The Last Dance” actress explained.
"Today, pop culture is full of images of young women who are very sexual and provocative, but they're not the ones in control of their image - they're just put out there by their handlers for public consumption.
"They're not really expressing anything; they're using their ability to turn men on as a way of selling albums or movie tickets."
