Johnny Depp is reportedly being lined-up to play deceased rock star Michael Hutchence in a new biopic of his life.
The movie, which may also star Naomi Watts, Sienna Miller, Rachel Griffiths, and Eric Bana, will be directed by the INXS frontman's brother Rhett, it will be filmed in Australia in co-operation with the Hutchence estate.
Ex-INXS music video director Nick Egan on the project is also working on the project.
The film will reportedly be called "Slide away", which refers to the duet Hutchence performed with U2's Bono.

I think this would be an excellent choice, interesting and challenging for any actor to catch complexeties of Hutchence, introspective, quietly spoken and witty on the one hand and the lithe-like animal charisma of Hutchence the performer. One reservation, I trust the producers will use the real Hutchence vocals rather than imitators - (there is only one Hutchence). Depp has got immense talent, charisma, compassion and humour as well as enjoying the challenge of playing the difficult role - plus he has the looks to play both the younger and older Michael. Hutchence had immense talent as a vocalist, a writer, a lyricist and a performer yet experienced adulation then demonisation from the press. I look forward to the film and all the more if Depp is on board.
